I have two good friends who over the years have added much to my life. They know of each other though they don’t know they have my friendship in common. The truth is they really don’t like each other, even though their contact has been rather superficial. They live in seemingly different worlds. They would probably be surprised that they have my friendship in common – but far more importantly, I am convinced they have Jesus in common.

Does this statistic bother you? We so easily miss truth by way of our assumptions, our faulty perceptions, our beloved traditions. “We’ve always done it this way” is no excuse for error in our behavioral patterns. “We’ve never done it that way” is no justification for wrong-minded “rut” living.

Gender is a hot-button issue among some believers.  Many important topics are being sidelined because something in the language, written or spoken, triggers reactions regarding gender issues, and the subject is immediately changed.  We will continue to be paralyzed and ineffectual until these issues are satisfactorily resolved
